Intra-Tester and Inter-Tester Reliability of the Lachmeter When Measuring Knee Joint Laxity

Knee injuries are common among all age groups, and clinical knee examination is essential for the prognosis, follow-up, rehabilitation process. The Lachmeter a newly developed digitized modification of Rolimeter, making it easier faster test personnel to read result. In present study, we aimed evaluate intra-tester inter-tester reliability when testing healthy traumatic knees. 24 participants smaller sample six ACL patients were examined with by two intermediate testers re-examined on second visit within 21 days. All measurements performed using different grip techniques: Lachman an anterior drawer grip. Intra- was evaluated intra-class correlation coefficient (ICC), standard error measurement (SEM), smallest detectable change (SDC), Student’s paired t-test, Bland–Altman plots. results showed in subjects poor good (ICC range: −0.28–0.87, SEM 0.33–1.14 mm, SDC 0.91–3.17 mm) 0.41–0.87, 0.27–0.67 0.75–1.87 mm). patients, moderate excellent 0.53–0.94, 0.14–0.88 0.38–2.44 mm), exception one (ICC: 0.26 95% CI [−3.43; 0.89]), whereas overall 0.61–0.89, 0.29–0.71 0.79–1.97 Reliability measures between techniques indicated that more reliable than conclusion, variation measures, ranging from patients. Future studies needed validate against gold-standard laxity assessment.
